Oak Terms of Use

Last updated October 8, 2026

Effective date: 2026-10-08

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you and Outdoor Adventure Klub ApS ("Oak", "we", "us", or "our") governing your access to and use of Oak, getoak.app, and our related apps, websites, products, and services (together, the "Services").

By accessing or using the Services, you agree to these Terms, our Privacy Policy, our Community Guidelines, and any other terms or policies that apply to specific features. If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.

You can contact us at hello@getoak.app or by mail at Outdoor Adventure Klub ApS, Gammel Strandvej 432, 3060 Espergaerde, Denmark.

1. Outdoor Activities And Safety

Oak helps people discover, plan, record, share, and understand outdoor activities. Outdoor activities can be dangerous. Conditions may change quickly. Routes, maps, activity data, recommendations, weather, terrain, community content, and other information in the Services may be incomplete, inaccurate, outdated, delayed, or unsuitable for your situation.

You are responsible for your own decisions, safety, equipment, fitness, route choice, weather assessment, local rules, insurance, and emergency planning. You should not rely on Oak as your only navigation, safety, emergency, weather, avalanche, rescue, or risk-management tool. Use appropriate offline maps, local information, professional advice, and qualified guides where needed.

Do not use the Services in a way that distracts you during an activity or creates a safety risk for you or others.

2. Eligibility

The Services are intended for users who are at least 18 years old. By using the Services, you represent that you are at least 18 and have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms.

3. Accounts

You may need an account to use some Services. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your account information updated, protect your password and login credentials, and notify us if you suspect unauthorized access.

You are responsible for activity on your account. We may refuse, reclaim, or change usernames that we consider inappropriate, misleading, infringing, or harmful.

4. Our Services And Content

Oak and our licensors own the Services, including our apps, websites, software, designs, maps, databases, features, trademarks, logos, text, graphics, and other content we provide ("Oak Content").

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access and use the Services and Oak Content for personal, non-commercial use.

You may not copy, reproduce, scrape, aggregate, modify, distribute, sell, license, reverse engineer, or exploit the Services or Oak Content except as allowed by these Terms, by law, or with our written permission.

5. Your Content

"Your Content" means content or information that you submit, upload, post, import, sync, record, create, display, or otherwise make available through the Services. This includes activity logs, GPS tracks, route geometry, activity files, photos, videos, captions, comments, messages, ratings, reviews, profile information, community posts, and feedback.

You keep ownership of Your Content. You are responsible for Your Content and must have all rights, permissions, and consents needed to provide it to Oak and make it available through the Services.

You must not provide content that is illegal, false, misleading, harmful, harassing, abusive, discriminatory, defamatory, obscene, infringing, invasive of privacy, unsafe, or otherwise violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines.

6. License You Give Oak

To operate, provide, improve, secure, and develop the Services, you grant Oak a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, transferable, sublicensable license to host, store, cache, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, modify, translate, display, publish, distribute, analyze, and create derivative works from Your Content.

This license allows Oak to:

  • show Your Content to you and to users you choose to share it with;
  • display content in Oak community features according to your settings and the relevant feature design;
  • operate feeds, groups, maps, route discovery, recommendations, activity pages, profiles, search, moderation, support, and safety features;
  • process activity data into aggregated, de-identified, anonymized, statistical, or privacy-protected outputs;
  • create and display activity heatmaps, route popularity signals, points of interest, conditions context, and other community-powered map features;
  • use service providers and technical infrastructure to provide the Services;
  • improve, test, and develop the Services.

For content you delete or stop sharing, this license ends for future display of that content as an individual item, except where continued use is reasonably necessary for backup, security, legal compliance, enforcement, dispute resolution, operation of already shared content, or aggregated, de-identified, anonymized, or statistical outputs that do not identify you.

Content may remain visible if it has been shared, copied, cached, embedded, indexed, stored by other users, included in community features, or retained where allowed by law.

7. Activity Data And Community Features

Oak includes community features. If you share an activity, route, profile, post, comment, photo, or other content through those features, other users and sometimes people outside Oak may be able to view, use, save, share, or interact with it.

Activity data that is imported, synced, recorded, uploaded, or otherwise added to Oak may be used in feeds, maps, route discovery, recommendations, groups, aggregated insights, activity heatmaps, and other community-powered features. Activity information may include route information, location information, activity type, timing, distance, duration, elevation, photos, captions, comments, conditions, and related metadata.

Oak may also use activity data, whether imported, synced, recorded, uploaded, or otherwise added to Oak, to create aggregated, de-identified, anonymized, statistical, or privacy-protected outputs for community map and discovery features. These outputs are intended to show broader patterns, not individual activities.

You should take care when sharing activity information if it reveals sensitive locations, routines, private places, vulnerable people, security-sensitive work, protected areas, or information you do not want others to know.

8. Connected Devices, Apps, And Services

You may choose to connect Oak with third-party devices, apps, and services, such as Garmin, Coros, Suunto, Apple Health, and similar providers. If you connect a third-party service, you authorize Oak to receive and process information from that service according to the permissions you grant.

Your use of a connected service is governed by that provider's own terms and policies. You are responsible for complying with those terms and managing permissions with that provider.

Disconnecting a provider stops future syncing from that provider. It may not automatically delete information already imported into Oak. You can manage or delete imported activities in Oak where the feature is available, or contact us for support.

9. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information. By using the Services, you acknowledge that Oak will process personal information as described in the Privacy Policy.

The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these Terms.

10. Third-Party Content, Data Sources, And Attributions

The Services may include third-party websites, content, data, maps, imagery, terrain, elevation, routing, weather, satellite, geospatial, or other information. We do not control all third-party content or data, and we are not responsible for its accuracy, availability, legality, or suitability.

Maps and source data may be subject to third-party terms, licenses, and attribution requirements. Oak may display required attributions in the app, on maps, in source sheets, or in other reasonable locations.

Where Oak displays modified Copernicus Sentinel-derived map information, the applicable attribution should include: "Contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data 2024, 2025 and 2026" or equivalent wording that preserves the required source and years.

11. App Stores

If you download Oak through Apple App Store, Google Play, or another app marketplace, the marketplace's terms may also apply. The marketplace is not responsible for providing support or maintenance for Oak unless its terms say otherwise.

You must comply with applicable app store and platform rules when using the Services.

12. Prohibited Activities

You must not:

  • use the Services for unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, abusive, or misleading purposes;
  • violate these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or applicable law;
  • infringe, misappropriate, or violate anyone's rights, including privacy, publicity, intellectual property, or safety rights;
  • harass, threaten, abuse, impersonate, or harm another person;
  • upload malicious code, spam, or deceptive content;
  • scrape, crawl, index, mine, aggregate, or extract data from the Services without our written permission;
  • use automated systems, bots, scripts, or similar tools to access the Services except as expressly allowed by us;
  • interfere with, disrupt, overload, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to access non-public parts of the Services;
  • bypass security, access controls, paywalls, rate limits, or technical restrictions;

  • remove attribution, copyright, trademark, or proprietary notices;
  • post or share private information about another person without permission;
  • use maps, recommendations, activity data, or location features in a way that endangers people, exposes sensitive locations, or violates local rules.

13. Service Management And Moderation

We may review, moderate, edit, remove, restrict, re-categorize, or disable access to content or accounts if we believe they violate these Terms, our Community Guidelines, law, or the safety and integrity of the Services.

We may also take steps to protect users, Oak, our partners, or the public, including suspending accounts, limiting features, removing content, reporting serious issues to authorities, or preserving information where required or permitted by law.

We are not obligated to monitor all content.

14. Changes To The Services

We may change, suspend, discontinue, limit, or remove any part of the Services at any time. We may also change pricing, features, availability, eligibility, data sources, supported integrations, or technical requirements.

We are not liable for any modification, suspension, interruption, delay, or discontinuance of the Services, except where liability cannot be excluded by law.

15. Changes To These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by the updated date above. If we make material changes, we may notify you by email, in-app notice, or another appropriate method.

Your continued use of the Services after updated Terms take effect means you accept the updated Terms. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Services.

16. Termination

These Terms remain in effect while you use the Services.

You may stop using the Services at any time. You may request account deletion through available account controls or by contacting us.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Services at any time if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk or harm, used the Services unlawfully, or if we need to protect Oak, users, partners, or the public.

After termination, provisions that by their nature should survive will survive, including ownership, licenses for retained content, disclaimers, limitations of liability, indemnity, dispute terms, and miscellaneous provisions.

17. Disclaimers

The Services are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, Oak disclaims all warranties, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise, including warranties of accuracy, reliability, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement.

We do not guarantee that the Services, maps, routes, recommendations, activity data, heatmaps, conditions, weather, terrain, community content, or third-party data will be accurate, complete, current, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

You use the Services and participate in outdoor activities at your own risk.

18. Limitation Of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Oak and our directors, employees, contractors, agents, affiliates, partners, and licensors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, use, or business opportunity, arising out of or related to the Services or these Terms.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

19. Indemnification

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Oak and our directors, employees, contractors, agents, affiliates, partners, and licensors from and against claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses arising out of or related to:

  • Your Content;
  • your use or misuse of the Services;
  • your violation of these Terms;
  • your violation of law;
  • your violation of any third-party rights;
  • your use of connected services or third-party providers.

20. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Denmark, without regard to conflict of law rules.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may also have mandatory rights under the laws of your country of residence.

21. Dispute Resolution

If a dispute arises, please contact us first at hello@getoak.app so we can try to resolve it informally.

Subject to mandatory consumer rights, the courts of Denmark will have jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or related to these Terms or the Services.

22. Electronic Communications

By using the Services or providing your email address, you agree to receive electronic communications from Oak, including account notices, service notices, policy updates, security notices, support messages, and other communications related to the Services.

You may unsubscribe from marketing emails using the unsubscribe link in those emails. We may still send non-marketing communications where necessary for your account or the Services.

23. Miscellaneous

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, Community Guidelines, and any feature-specific terms, form the entire agreement between you and Oak regarding the Services.

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in effect.

Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.

You may not assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign these Terms in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring, sale of assets, or by operation of law.
