Oak Community Guidelines
At Oak, our mission is to help people connect through outdoor activities in a safe, respectful, and inspiring environment. These Community Guidelines outline the standards we expect from everyone using Oak and the situations in which we may take action.
By using Oak, you agree to follow these principles.
1. Be respectful
Treat everyone in the Oak community with respect. Outdoor sports often rely on trust and cooperation, so mutual courtesy is essential. Any form of harassment, discrimination, bullying, or unwanted behavior—online or offline—is not tolerated.
2. Keep interactions appropriate
Oak is designed to help people connect for sports and outdoor activities. Romantic or sexual advances, suggestive messages, or pressure for personal or physical interaction are not appropriate on Oak. Always make sure communication and behavior are clearly consensual.
3. Only use Oak for its intended purpose
Use Oak to find, join, and organize activities related to sports and outdoor adventures. Using the platform for unrelated personal, commercial, or exploitative purposes is not allowed.
4. Report inappropriate behavior
If you experience or witness inappropriate behavior connected to an Oak activity or communication within the app, please report it to us. We review all reports confidentially and take action where it falls within our scope (for example, when it involves in-app messaging, events, or profiles on Oak).
While we take these matters seriously, we can only act on situations that happen directly through Oak or are clearly connected to an Oak activity. Incidents that occur outside our platform are beyond our ability to investigate or enforce, unless they clearly violate our community standards or applicable law.
5. Consequences of violations
We may take one or more of the following actions in response to guideline violations:
Decisions are made based on available information and in accordance with our policies.
6. Safety first
Always prioritize your safety during outdoor activities. Meet in public or well-known areas when connecting with new people, inform someone you trust about your plans, and respect your personal limits. Oak does not verify users’ backgrounds or guarantee anyone’s behavior outside the app.
7. Confidentiality and privacy
We treat all reports and personal data with confidentiality and in line with our Privacy Policy. We will never share your information publicly or with other users unless required by law.
8. Help us build a positive community
Oak exists to make it easier and more enjoyable to find partners for outdoor adventures. Your behavior shapes the tone of the community. Please contribute by being kind, inclusive, and supportive.
If you ever feel unsafe or uncomfortable, or if you want to report a concern, please contact us directly through the app or at hello@getoak.app.
Together, we can make Oak a space where everyone feels welcome.
