A two-day course that builds the technique and judgement for steep skiing, starting on lift-accessed terrain in Veysonnaz and finishing in real couloirs reached by short skin approaches. Day 1 is about movement and confidence; Day 2 puts it to work on real steep lines. Why this course: Most people who want to ski couloirs go straight for a big objective and spend the day survival-skiing. This course does it the other way round. You work first on the fundamentals that make steep skiing controlled: short, precise turns, kick turns and transitions in exposed places, basic rope work, and reading the slope to pick the safest line. Only then do you take it into couloirs, with a guide choosing terrain that matches the conditions and the group. Who it's for: Strong off-piste skiers who are comfortable on 35° slopes in variable snow and have been ski touring before. You do not need couloir experience; this course is where you build it. You should be able to skin for 1 to 2 hours and ski steep terrain with a pack. Conditions: Day 2's location depends on snow and avalanche conditions. Options include Mont Fort, Verbier or Arolla. If conditions do not allow steep skiing, the guide will adapt the objectives to the safest terrain available and the focus will shift to technique. Accommodation: Not included. As the Day 2 location depends on conditions, the guide will confirm the plan in advance so you can book accordingly.
