Three days of multi-pitch climbing in the Loferer Steinberge, based at the Schmidt-Zabierow-Hütte. The course takes you from single-pitch climbing to moving confidently on longer routes: building anchors, belaying from stances, managing the rope, and abseiling safely. Each day combines hands-on instruction with real climbing on classic limestone routes, so you leave with the skills to climb multi-pitch routes on your own. Why the Loferer Steinberge: The Schmidt-Zabierow-Hütte sits right under the walls, so routes start minutes from the hut and there is no long walk-in each morning. The limestone is excellent, the routes range from easy to demanding, and the area is much quieter than the more famous climbing areas in the Alps. Staying at the hut gives you three full days on rock. Who it's for: Climbers who can top-rope or lead at around grade 5 (UIAA) in a climbing gym or on single-pitch crags, and want to move on to longer routes. You do not need multi-pitch experience; that is what this course teaches. You should be fit enough for a hut walk-in with a pack and full days of climbing. What you will learn * Building and equalising anchors * Belaying the leader and second from a stance * Rope management and changeovers at stances * Efficient movement on multi-pitch terrain * Abseiling and retreat techniques * Route choice, topo reading and timing Conditions: The routes are chosen each day based on weather and the group's level. If the weather is poor, the focus moves to rope skills and shorter routes close to the hut.
