Day 1 — Approach to Weissmies Hut Route: Saas-Grund → Hohsaas lift → Weissmieshütte * Elevation: 3,000 m → 2,726 m * Hiking time: 1–2 h * Objective: Easy acclimatization walk, gear check, alpine briefing. A relaxed approach day to begin acclimatization before entering more technical terrain. ⸻ Day 2 — Weissmies via Rotgrat Route: Weissmieshütte → Rotgrat → Summit → descent via normal route to Hohsaas * Summit: 4,017 m * Elevation gain: +1,300 m / -1,700 m * Duration: 8–10 h * Technical level: PD / mixed scrambling & glacier travel A beautiful alpine traverse combining rock ridge climbing, mixed terrain, and glacier travel — ideal preparation for the movement and endurance required on the Matterhorn. ⸻ Day 3 — Transfer & Recovery Route: Saas Valley → Zermatt → Hörlihütte * Elevation: 1,620 m → 3,260 m * Hiking time: 2 h from Schwarzsee * Objective: Recovery, hydration, and preparation for the Matterhorn ascent. Short approach to the legendary Hörlihütte with time to rest and prepare for an alpine start. ⸻ Day 4 — Matterhorn Summit Day Route: Hörlihütte → Hörli Ridge → Summit → return to Zermatt * Summit: 4,478 m * Elevation gain: +1,220 m / -2,850 m * Duration: 10–14 h * Technical level: AD / exposed alpine rock climbing
