A three-day course for climbers who already have experience in alpine terrain and want to become self-sufficient on longer routes. You will build the practical skills for safe, independent alpine climbing: placing protection, building anchors, rappelling, and retreating safely if a route doesn't go to plan. Why this course: Alpine climbing is a different skill set from cragging. It's not just about the moves, it's about anchors that hold, gear placed correctly in imperfect rock, reading a topo on route, and knowing how to get down safely if the weather turns or a pitch is beyond you. This course is built around those specific skills, with real routes in the Wilder Kaiser to practice on. Who it's for: Climbers with prior experience in alpine terrain up to UIAA grade V, or who have completed an introductory alpine climbing course. This is not a first alpine climbing experience. Conditions: The course runs in the Wilder Kaiser, but the course area can be changed on request depending on conditions or the group's goals. Dates doesn't fit? If these dates don't work for you, you can also request me directly through Oak's private guide flow, listed under Tyrol.
