Verbier has a reputation for powder and freeride skiing, and it earns it! The Bec des Rosses, which hosts the Freeride World Tour finals, sits in plain view of the main lifts.
Mont Gelé is the signature. A small cable car serves a summit with no pistes at all, so every descent from it is off-piste, and the entries are steep and often exposed. Mont Fort at 3,330 m gives high north-facing terrain, like the classic Mont Fort Backside, or Mont Fort North Face: both hold cold snow long for a long time. The Stairway to Heaven and the Vallon d'Arbi are the long classics, and the terrain toward La Chaux and Lac des Vaux is where a lot of people ski their first proper off-piste.
The 4 Vallées is the largest linked area in Switzerland, so the choice is incredibly wide. Nendaz, Veysonnaz and Bruson add further aspects, and a guide picks in the morning based on the avalanche bulletin and tries to find the best snow for the day!
